"Xylo blades are the most beautiful I've seen. The disadvantage to a carbon blade is that if you tend to bang the gunwales ( which new paddlers tend to do) the carbon can chip and dent and is not easily repaired. Wood is a little easier to repair. The Xylo blade is encircled by a very hard resin to protect the blade from damage and gunwale banging. (oops they also have hybrid paddles as well - which I've not seen)."

It's easy, the ladies from North Queensland that make up the crew from Outrigger Whitsunday are raffling this paddle 1st prize and model canoe 2nd prize for $20 a ticket limited tickets only.
The paddle is valued at $2000 , stands 1.6m tall and the canoe $450, 1.1m long.

On the back of the paddle it is written to wish the girls luck and part of the reason they are doing Molokai'i - we would love you to win one of these prizes and help the girls get to race Molokai'i this year, they have worked at it for some time now.
